Care Instructions
Garment Care Guide
Keep your Style Bar pieces looking their best with these care tips. Always check the care label on each garment for specific instructions.
General Washing Guidelines
Sort by color: Wash darks, lights, and whites separately to prevent color bleeding
Turn inside out: Protect prints, embellishments, and colors by turning garments inside out before washing
Use cold water: Cold water helps preserve colors and prevents shrinkage
Gentle cycle: Use a gentle or delicate cycle for most fashion pieces
Mild detergent: Choose a gentle, color-safe detergent without harsh chemicals
Fabric-Specific Care
Delicate Fabrics (Silk, Lace, Chiffon)
• Hand wash in cold water or use a mesh laundry bag on delicate cycle
• Avoid wringing - gently squeeze out excess water
• Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight
• Steam or iron on low heat with a pressing cloth
Knits & Sweaters
• Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water
• Never hang wet - lay flat to dry to maintain shape
• Store folded, not hung, to prevent stretching
• Remove pilling with a fabric shaver or sweater stone
Denim
• Wash inside out in cold water to preserve color
• Wash less frequently to maintain fit and color (spot clean when possible)
• Air dry or tumble dry on low heat
• Avoid bleach and harsh detergents
Cotton & Linen
• Machine wash in cold or warm water
• Tumble dry on low or line dry
• Iron while slightly damp for best results
• May shrink slightly on first wash
Activewear & Synthetics
• Wash in cold water on gentle cycle
• Avoid fabric softener (it can reduce moisture-wicking properties)
• Air dry or tumble dry on low heat
• Don't iron - heat can damage synthetic fibers
Drying Tips
• Air drying is gentlest and helps garments last longer
• If using a dryer, choose low heat settings
• Remove items while slightly damp to reduce wrinkles
• Never over-dry - it can cause shrinkage and damage fibers
Storage Tips
• Store clean garments only - stains set over time
• Use padded hangers for delicate items and structured pieces
• Fold heavy knits and sweaters to prevent stretching
• Keep items in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Use garment bags for special occasion pieces
Stain Removal
• Treat stains immediately for best results
• Blot, don't rub, to avoid spreading the stain
• Test stain removers on an inconspicuous area first
• For stubborn stains, consider professional dry cleaning
When to Dry Clean
• Structured blazers and tailored pieces
• Garments labeled "Dry Clean Only"
• Delicate fabrics like silk, velvet, or wool
• Items with embellishments, beading, or special finishes
